If you enjoy war movies that focus more on the tragedy of war rather than a simple action flick, I would recommend "Joyeux Noël" (2005) - an amazing movie that takes place in the trenches during WWI. Would not recommend for young children just because of the violence and the lack of english spoken, but should definitely be seen otherwise. It shouldn't "wrap up nicely" because the reality is, nothing really ever wrapped up nicely for most soldiers and they're families. It's nice to see a movie that doesn't have a typical happy ending where everyone is alive, and happily returns home to they're families. Unlike most american war movies, they actually had a scene that showed the background of one of the american soldiers (letter from his mom) and their lines were actually delivered with some decent acting (Let me tell you something - a lot of "Japs" in american movies aren't speaking real Japanese) I seriously doubt that there weren't any americans that killed Japanese POW in real life - they're still the enemy after all. Contrary to some other reviewers, I don't think that the Americans were depicted as inhumane. Cinematography is decent, effects are pretty good and the open goriness leaves you with a feeling of hopelessness and grief which further augments the realism. Not only that, but the acting is exceptional and delivers the emotion even if you don't understand what they're saying. This movie demonstrates the humanity of each one of these soldiers (from both sides) and makes you reconsider the "enemy". Really feel that 'MURRICA-ness as they chop down all of the bad guys. Not that there's anything wrong with war movies here, but I had noticed that the americans are always the "hero", and that everyone else is a faceless enemy with no background. Which Side of History? How Technology Is Reshaping Democracy and Our Livesīeing born in Canada with Japanese parents, I have always been mindful of both POVs in WWII (regarding Japan and the US).Cómo saber si una aplicación o sitio web son realmente educativos.
